Christmas Gift Guide for Kids

Christmas Gift Guide for Kids

Hello, friends!!

So, I can’t believe we’re already talking gift guides! Actually, I couldn’t be more excited if we’re being honest. I’ve got my tree up, house is decorated, so I guess the next step is to start shopping, right?! Are you an overachiever too this year and have your tree out and up yet? I know it’s not even Thanksgiving but Corbin is at such a fun age and has been so antsy about Christmas coming in however many sleeps and it will be Cami Kate’s first Christmas on the outside so mama is ready to celebrate big! Also, if you aren’t already aware, Thanksgiving falls late this year so we actually have 6 less days of shopping! Yikes! Which in my mind, is even more reason to start marking off that list! I’ll be honest though and tell you guys that I am such a procrastinator when it comes to shopping over the holidays. Like, so bad! I’m hopeful though that this year will be different since I’ve got the spirit! Also, praying I can find a good hiding spot where Corbin won’t find all of the gifts “Santa” will be leaving on Christmas Eve. Pray for me, y’all!

Today, I’m sharing several options kids gifting options for all ages. Whether you’re shopping for babies, toddlers, tweens or teens, I hope there’s something below for everyone! I also wanted to include a broad range of pricing this year too. Several items are $25 to $50 and under, while others are over $200. Hoping you will find what is on your kiddos wish list, and if not, shoot me a message and I would be so happy to help you find it!

Below are several ideas, but something else that is even more precious than the latest, greatest toy is an experience. I always want to be transparent in this space and thought I’d share what we’ve done as a family in previous years. My mom always says that each year instead of a bunch of gifts, it would be so fun to start a trip fund and add to it instead of saving for gifts. Taking a trip as a family and creating memories instead of having more things is something your kids will always remember and will cherish. They may not remember what they got for Christmas that one year, but they will always remember that time you went skiing, or took them to Disney. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate vacation either, but is an idea of you’re looking to make memories and not spend as much on what is under the tree. We’ve taken cruises, gone to the mountains, and even just taken weekend trips to nearby resorts. We’ve always looked forward to the time together and to just be able to go somewhere, relax and sightsee. Just some food for thought, but I will say, there are some really fun gifting options below too if you’re looking for inspiration.

I’ve also linked some stocking stuffer ideas as well, most under $20! I hope this is a helpful resource for you this season and inspires you to get ahead of the game a little too! 🙂

Gifts for infants to teens and ages in between.

Thanks so much for stopping by, shopping my links and continually supporting this little space! Have a great rest of your Wednesday!

Happy Tuesday and welcome to this edition of blogging where I talk all about the importance of oil changes and why we use Shell Rotella Gas Truck Oil. We’re honestly so excited to be a part of the #RotellaGasTruckRollback campaign and to have my handsome hubs in this post along with me! I mean, how cute is he? A man who looks good changing the oil, how lucky am I?!

For as long as I can remember, Shell has been a trusted product for servicing our families vehicles. The Rotella Gas Truck Oil is on rollback right now, is FTC compliant, one of the most effective in protecting your engine and allows you to go a little bit longer between changes. It’s a sustainable product for those heavy loads, treacherous driving conditions, extreme temperatures, and even frequent short trips. It also protects horsepower and prevents sludge and all the icky stuff that can corrode your engine.

Speaking of frequent short trips, I am always on the go. Between school, baseball, photo shoots, and all that is mom life, it’s important to keep my car in tip top shape and ensure the safety of my family in the meantime. Conrad is constantly asking if everything is working like it should and to make sure I am servicing the engine as often as necessary. I have a GMC Yukon and so the Rotella Gas Truck Oil is perfect for keeping us safe on the road. For me, it’s an easy stop at the #walmart AutoCare Center and 20 minutes to get my oil changed efficiently and affordably. We’ve even bought the oil at our local Walmart and Conrad’s changed it a handful of times in the driveway for me.

Being a daughter, grand-daughter and now wife of generations of oil and gas, its imperative to use the best. Which is why my family relies on Shell products and trusts the Rotella Gas Truck Oil to get us where we need to go. So excited to have been a part of this campaign and to have been able to share more about what this product actually does. The next time you’re at your local Walmart, let them change your oil, and be sure to tell them you want the Shell Rotella Gas Truck Oil especially if you have a truck or SUV to keep your engine free from wear and tear and running clean. Let them know we sent you and enjoy the ride!

Hello friends!

Today, I am so excited to be partnering with Walmart to talk about one of their exclusive lines. Parents’s Choice is celebrating 20 years this October as Walmart’s premiere baby brand! They have a variety of products at competitive prices that suit the needs of parents everywhere. From their best selling fragrance free and hypoallergenic wipes to plush baby blankets and everything in between, you will find exactly what you need to keep your baby clean, fed, and warm in every stage from infancy all the way through toddlerhood and beyond. You can view the entire Parent’s Choice line here.

One of our favorite Parent’s Choice items is the Rosette Blanket in white. Camilla loves it and it goes everywhere we go lately. I also love their infant and toddler hangers. They come in a pack of ten and in four color combinations and are so handy. We can never have enough hangers, and I love that they keep us organized! Speaking of organization, how cute are these storage bins? So cute if you’re trying to keep things tidy and perfect for small spaces! These would be great for diapers, lotions, and necessities and could even be used later for toy storage. Parent’s Choice seriously has so many great product options for the nursery too. Take a look below at their selection for their selection of all things newborn and decorating. If you’re a new mom or mom-to-be, planning a registry or just need a little inspiration, this section is for you!

If you’re a seasoned mom, and are still buying diapers, here are a few options Parent’s Choice offers to ensure your baby stays dry in the newborn phase through the potty training phase. They’ve got you covered, literally! They have 36 count packages of diapers to a 328 count, which is priced at $38 and ranges from sizes Newborn to Size 7 or over 41 lbs. Then there’s their premium line, with a great value as well. Whatever your needs, Parent’s Choice will exceed your expectations. See below for diapering and feeding options available.

I’m so happy to have been able to share with you a little more about Parent’s Choice and Walmart’s exclusive and celebratory baby brand. I hope you’ll try some of these great products out, and if you do, be sure to let me know what you think!

Halloween Books and Looks for Kids

Facetune_14-10-2019-22-20-00

Can you believe Halloween is almost here? It doesn’t seem possible that we’re already half way through the month of October. This is one of my favorite months of the year. That crisp, cool morning air, the leaves changing, carving pumpkins, decorating my porch, and all of the fun fall festivities and Halloween carnivals. Speaking of carnivals, our church actually puts on an amazing Trunk or Treat. Several families participate and go ALL out decorating their trunks and creating a theme at each stop. They have bounce houses, food and of course more treats than imaginable. It’s always so much fun and I look forward to going this year and for Camilla to experience her first Halloween in her cute little costume. It’s always a good time and one of the many opportunities we have that Corbin enjoys. Did I also mention his favorite holiday is Halloween? So last year he was a vampire, but two years prior he was Spiderman and y’all, he literally wore that thing EVERYWHERE. I couldn’t get him out of it for months.  It was also that phase of not understanding Halloween only comes around once a year and that “tomorrow” wasn’t Halloween again! Hah! Oh my goodness! Anyone else remember that with their toddler? So funny! Then we went through the vampire phase. Not a scary vampire, but a nice one, he would tell me. Then when his vampire costume and teeth arrived, it was an entirely new dilemma and a flashback of Spiderman all over again. He loved those crazy vampire teeth. It was a hoot!! I kept finding them in bizarre places and he even tried to wear them into pre-school a time or two. That boy! I’m interested to see how Cami will be in those phases. I’ll let you know once we get there!

Facetune_14-10-2019-22-17-35

Facetune_14-10-2019-22-23-44Today, since everyone is beginning to gear up for all of the fun activities ahead, I thought it would be fun to share a few Halloween books we’ve loved and read this time of year every night before bed. It’s a fun tradition Camilla gets to join now too, as we snuggle up in Corbin’s bed, freshly bathed and ready for a good story to end the day. He picks one each night, sometimes the same one and I read it a “couple” times, but it’s one I enjoy year after year and one we’ve had since he was a little bitty guy. I’ve always read to him but I think we can agree, themed holiday books are the best, amiright?! Memories I hope they will always remember and traditions to someday begin with their littles.

The post wouldn’t be complete without some children’s Halloween outfit inspo and some cute pajamas like the ones pictured too. I mean, how can I not? We are fans of our jammies, guys! I love coordinating the kids, like I’ve mentioned before, and even think its fun in pajama form for all the holidays. Coordinating is always a good idea in my book! Here are some of our favorites below! I hope you enjoy this fun share and that you soak up the rest of October, like we are!

Wishing you a boo-tiful and spook-tacular Halloween season!

Mommy & Mini Twinning

Mommy & Mini Twinning

Hello and happy Wednesday, friends!!!

It’s been a minute since I’ve written a blog post, but thought today I’d share some fun mommy and me matching inspiration. With fall here, I wanted to showcase a few versatile pieces, some matchy matchy, and some understated that don’t have to be worn with your littles and look cute styled on their very own.

Facetune_09-10-2019-00-20-54

BUT… Oh how I love the idea of matching! When I started this space, it really began with me sharing complimentary outfits between Corbin and me. Fall outfit ideas for family photos, and just the two of us wearing similar pieces was really where my love for the blog all began. I still love matching him, when he lets me, and remember the matching outfit trend with my mom when I was little. Laura Ashley floral dresses were our jam back then, and we have the life size hanging portraits to prove it! Now, I may not go that far but I do think complimenting your babies wardrobe from time to time is adorable. 🙂

Facetune_09-10-2019-00-25-51 2

Facetune_09-10-2019-00-24-53I’ve linked several options below on how to coordinate or completely match your kids and loved every minute of putting this together. I have even linked mine and Camilla’s fall sweaters from the pumpkin patch, AKA Walmart if you want to shop them. Her sweater is under $25 and a purchase I made long before having her. I got lucky to be able to find mine! Hope you all have a fantastic hump day!! As Corbin would say, two more “sleeps” til the weekend!!!

Mamapod Ergonomic Baby Carrier Review

Facetune_18-07-2019-13-54-35

Facetune_18-07-2019-13-55-18

IMG_0951

Facetune_18-07-2019-13-53-37Happy Thursday from beautiful San Diego!!!

I’m so excited to share my review on the Mamapod carrier! It has been in use by us since the first part of July and is hands down Camilla’s very favorite to be carried in.

I have literally tried three separate carriers and this one has been a hit and the most comfortable, especially for her. I think one aspect she loves most is the foldable seat. It holds her in a very supportive position and the seat acts as an actual chair-like device, which leaves her feeling secure. She mostly enjoys sitting forward facing in it so she can observe the world around her and be apart of it all!

One unique aspect that the Mamapod offers versus other child carriers, is it comes with a detachable support pole. I’ll be honest and say I’ve only used the pole once to try it, and found it to be a little bit awkward. It’s something you’ll have to carry around while using for going short distances or it can be folded up in a pouch under the seat, which is my preference. It can even be held in your hand, or worn on your side until you’ve reached your destination to rest. I do think it would come in handy if you were to use it hiking or doing any type of  strenuous activity. However, I don’t feel like it’s necessary for us, considering I use mine for short term activities but definitely think it would be helpful depending on your situation. It’s simply designed to assist in carrying for long periods of time to distribute weight. The support pole also is adjustable by height and is fully collapsable.

Overall, it’s both functional and stylish. It has shoulder and waist straps for comfort, adjustable leg openings, a mesh layer for those hot summer days that is extra breathable for your tot, and is a soft material that will keep your baby cozy whether facing inward or outward. It also comes in a couple of color options to satisfy your preference and holds newborn aged babies up to toddlers.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Mamapod so far and are looking forward to watching our girl grow into it. It has been so handy y’all, that I actually keep it in my car at all times to grab and put the baby in during my every day errands. We genuinely love it and am so thankful to have been able to try it.

I would 100% suggest and encourage you to try it, buy it, add it to your registry and have linked it here for you to look into further.

A special thank you to Mamapod for gifting this amazing product to us and to Stills and Ink Photography for these images of baby squish and me. So thankful!

Have a wonderful rest of your week, friends!

Halo Dream Nest

Happy Friday!!

I’m so excited to FINALLY share my thoughts on our Halo DreamNest! We’ve been using it for about a month now after outgrowing our Halo bassinet and I have to say, we love it! Camilla sleeps so soundly in it and it gives me such peace of mind even though she’s still sleeping in our room. I’ve told y’all before that the Halo bassinet was one of my favorite purchases this time around! I loved the swivel affect, vibration settings and how tall is was, considering our bed is not an average height. I can confirm now, the DreamNest is right up there with my top favorite baby products!

The transition to the Halo DreamNest was incredibly smooth. Camilla took to it right away and it has surpassed my expectations in regards to safety and comfort. It has a breathable insert or “mattress” which allows the flow of oxygen at all times while your baby sleeps, through the mesh fabric and muslin crib sheet. It can also be stationary or if you prefer, has a rocking type attachment, which has been a great feature that our little girl loves. It also has wheels for the ease of transfer from room to room. We’re currently using the mattress in the bassinet or bassinest position which is great for up to 15 pounds. Soon, we will transition to the lower setting in which the mattress will sit on the bottom and this setting will be sufficient for up to 30 pounds.

I love that she can play/nap in it in the living room while I clean or do laundry and at night I can easily move it into my room for bedtime. It is much more versatile when it comes to mobility. We’ve even traveled with it this summer and once it’s set up is perfect! It is a great size and the bag that it fits in when folded can easily be loaded in a vehicle or if traveling by airplane can be safely checked. The only thing I haven’t mastered is having to collapse our DreamNest. It’s actually kind of difficult to tear down and set up, honestly. Conrad has had to help me on a couple of occasions where we’ve traveled out of town and taken it with us. The mattress will also fold down but has to be completely taken apart, so I just tend to carry it if we’re traveling by car and keep it at it’s full capacity. The frame after collapsing is a little bit more difficult to snap in place than our Pack n’ Play but I definitely like the DreamNest much better once it’s completely set up. I feel like it’s well made which is why it may be a little more trying to put together. Just my opinion! You may find it super easy to set up and collapse, just my opinion alone. Luckily, we don’t have to collapse it often and each time we’ve traveled, Conrad has been there to rescue me from setting it up.

We were also gifted a Halo SleepSack! If you’ve been around here for a hot second, you know I am a believer in wearable blankets for infants! I never used them for Corbin and feel he didn’t sleep as well or as long until he was quite a bit older. We’ve been using them on Camilla since about 6-8 weeks old and she sleeps like a rock for anywhere from 10-12 hours per night. I wish I would have tried them out our first time around, but hey, you live and learn right?! This one is one of our favorites! I love the zipper, how soft it is, and that it keeps her just the right temperature as she sleeps, with our home staying around 68 degrees. The HALO SleepSack grow with your baby – from newborn sizing for their SleepSack swaddle to toddler sized wearable blankets and everything size in between. I would highly, highly recommend trying the Halo SleepSack! It is a game changer, my friends and I’m so thankful they have allowed us to try the HALO SleepSack easy transition which helps control the moro reflex for babies who no longer like to be swaddled, but still need a bit of security around their arms.

We are truly enjoying our DreamNest and if you’re on the fence, I would say definitely add it and a couple of Halo sleep sacks to your registry. Halo stands behind their products and I just feel they are the absolutely best for infancy and beyond in their product line. They have developed and designed state of the art products for every day use and have hit the big check marks every parent has when it comes to purchasing what will be both the most safe and effective.

Thank you to Halo for sponsoring this post and for allowing us to try the new DreamNest. I am a believer in every Halo purchase I’ve ever made and feel so honored to get to share my honest feedback with all of you! I hope you will consider the Dream Nest for your little one as well! If you have one, tell me what you think in the comments!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Amazon Prime Day

How is it already Monday?! Does anyone else feel like the weekend completely flew by? We had such a nice weekend, well until Conrad got sick. He seems to have caught what I’ve been fighting for the last week or so. Congestion, sore throat, cough, fatigue, you know, the works. Bless his heart! Even though he felt pretty bad, he still made it to brunch with us and laid by the pool yesterday. He was a trooper and played with Corbin and entertained Camilla while I sat on the side and caught a ray or two and took a little #mombreak. It was a pretty laid back weekend and we soaked it up! Those weekends are my favorite. The ones that have no agenda, where you can just relax and enjoy spending time together. It makes me wish there was an extra day between Saturday and Sunday, so we could be all together a little longer, without a care in the world, or well maybe a Z-Pak. My poor hubs! Hoping today is better for him!

Why I’m writing though is Amazon is having Prime Day, which is a series of deals for the next two days and I wanted to share a few things I have bought and LOVE from Amazon to give you insight and maybe make your shopping experience a little more enjoyable, especially if there’s something in particular you’ve been eyeing. Right now is the time to jump on it! Also, let me know if you have any questions, need help finding anything, or need specific links. This is just a start for y’all, as I’m sure I’ll add to these categories as we go along. Let me know how I can be a better resource for you all and what you add to cart! Check out the categories below. They are also stoppable so you can click on them to be redirected to the Amazon website. Remember, if you click on them and shop, I will get a small percentage of the sale. It will in no way cost you a thing to go through my links for purchase but allows me to continue to run this space. Just a little reminder. 🙂 I had questions during the Nordstrom Sale last week, so I wanted to emphasize that point on today’s post.

Here are a few Amazon finds I am loving or have loved!

Nordstrom Sale Picks

Happy Thursday!

If you’ve looked at Instagram today you know the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now open to Icon and Ambassador Members! I actually shopped it a little this morning when it opened because I wanted to snag a few things I had my eye on and knew they would possibly sell out tomorrow when Early Access for card holders opened. I’ll be sharing what I actually purchased soon but wanted to give you some insight into what I feel like will be big sellers this year. I will say, per usual, animal print is HUGE. Particularly snakeskin and I am loving it! There are so many animal print options in shoes this year and I about died just browsing all of them! I’ll take one of each, please. Just kidding, but the shoes really are so good this year and if you’ve been around for a hot minute, you know I’m a shoe snob. I also found some good beauty must haves, some I’ve tried and others I’ve been wanting to try and will share and report my thoughts once I receive them.

I’m also thinking I’ll share some kids picks and men’s over the weekend. I found some goodies for my kiddos this winter that I felt were really good buys. More so kids items for them than clothing pieces for myself this year, believe it or not. Every year, I buy Corbin a new coat during this sale because the prices are just too good to pass up on Patagonia and North Face and if you’re like me, you know now is a good time to invest in these items for winter.

There really are so many good things, and as always this sale is my favorite of the season. I love fall, it’s the best season for clothes and shoes IMO and a great opportunity to also score some great deals on designer items. Excited to hear your feed back too on what you buy and what you think in general of this years selection! I’ll be sharing what is actually coming home with me tomorrow, but for starters, here is a list of items I am loving and I think you will also love this year!

Have a happy day!!!

Nordstrom Sale 2019- The deets before you shop

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is right around the corner and there’s a reason why it’s so popular and my absolute favorite of the year. If you aren’t familiar, the #nsale previews all of the latest fall and winter merchandise and the kicker is, it’s BRAND NEW. It’s literally never been seen, all new inventory and a sneak peak into the hottest trends of the fall/winter seasons. The best part is it’s marked down for a few weeks for the public to shop before going back up to full price the beginning of August. Best. Sale. Ever. Therefore, I wanted to share a few tips and tricks I’ve learned since first sharing the sale nearly three years ago. I am SO excited to be covering this sale as I’m forever a Nordy girl and have been an avid shopper of this retailer for years and years.

So, when is the sale?

E1D02D6C-FE2A-46FC-823D-E0EDDD6D342F

The Nordstrom Card: This card is your golden ticket to access the sale early; beginning for Icon and Ambassador members on July 10th-11th and for card holders on July 12th. It allows you to shop early and receive double points for every dollar spent, that can be converted into notes to use on future purchases and can also be a valuable asset in a successful shopping experience. Yet, I’ll be honest, my first year as a Nordstrom card holder wasn’t my finest. I’m pretty sure I bought about everything my first go-round and by August when I received my statement was wondering how in the world I was going to pay it. I ended up with at least 7 pairs of boots, 15 cardigans, a few handbags and no idea how I was going to break the news of my astonishing debt to my husband. I ended up with several items left with tags after that season and sold the majority on a re-sell Facebook page. It wasn’t my most shining of moments and from there have learned how to navigate the sale and not go completely overboard. I have been there, friends and would encourage you to choose wisely. The Nordstrom Card can be a great way to earn rewards and is awesome to have for this particular sale, but make sure you’re using it correctly, so you don’t get yourself in a bind. No sale is worth it and no pair of shoes is THAT cute! Create a budget and stick with it.

A guide for check out: One suggestion I will make is if you find something you know you want, BUY it immediately. These items tend to go FAST and without notice. Just because something is in your cart doesn’t mean it will be saved. I would encourage you to go to check out and finalize your purchase to ensure you get the items you’re wanting. You can make as many purchases as you would like, so be sure to check out as quickly as possible those items you KNOW you want. There is also no guarantee they will restock. Last year, I remember many items didn’t restock. It was unusual and I’m curious to see what will happen this year. There are so many items and several people will send things back, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get something on the first try. Many times it will go back on the site, but try to snag the most desired items if you can, just in case they don’t restock them.

The best way to shop: I will be shopping online only this year because I have a four month old and we just got back from a trip so its just not feasible this year to travel to a Nordstrom, as the closest one to me is nearly 5 hours away. I would definitely say, go to the store if it’s within your reach to check everything out, try things on and just to experience the #nsale. I was in Las Vegas last year during the preview and I was able to attend. It was so fun and I loved getting to actually try things on in store. It made making decisions easier and I wasn’t as concerned about things selling out. You can go through this link to access the Nordstrom site and start shopping if you’ll be doing so online.

I thought I’d share a few preview items I’m loving below as inspiration and wish you much luck as you embark on shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Whether it’s your first time shopping or you’re a veteran to the sale, keep in mind to shop first, fast and smart and be sure to check back here, as I’ll be updating and sharing more once the sale becomes public on the 12th. Can’t wait to see what you guys are loving and to share more as it goes live! Also, I hope you’ll use me as a resource for any links or questions you may have! Happy shopping, friends!

VII Code Eye Mask

As a busy mom of two, I like many other moms tend to put my needs and self-care on the back burner. Not at all complaining and I wouldn’t change it for the world, yet mama sometimes needs to pamper herself. Anyone else feel this way? 30 minutes of alone time, yes?

I was recently gifted a product that I’ve found to be very effective for under eye circles, is safe for expecting moms, and is so easy and convenient to use. The VII Code oxygen mask is SO good y’all! It feels amazing and has become a staple in my weekly routine.

This mask helps reduce the appearance fine lines and wrinkles (can I get an amen?) and how I like to apply mine is at night before bed. I can sleep in it for up to 8 hours and wake up looking less like a tired mom and more like an energized 20 something. Okay, maybe that’s going a little far, but it’s definitely made such an impact in my routine and I think is something that could benefit other women wanting to take a little time for themselves, even if it’s while you sleep. I have tried many eyes masks in the past. Prior to pregnancy I was using an eye mask that included retinol as an ingredient, not safe for pregnant or nursing so quickly had to come up with a safe alternative that would do the job and that would make me feel like I was making improvements to my skin in the meantime.

The VII Code mask has been wonderful and I’m so glad to have been given the opportunity to use it. If you’re also interested, you can check out the oxygen eye mask, here. Let me know your thoughts and what your results are looking like and remember to always take time for yourself! Doing so will make you a better you to care for those around you!

Happy weekend, friends!

Hey Friday!

Anyone else so happy the weekend is here? I don’t know about you but I’ve never met a Friday I didn’t love!

Camilla is a whole three months today! I can’t believe it, y’all! Part of me feels like we’ve had her here forever and the other feels like she was barely born. So crazy how infancy works. One minute they are sleeping 20 hours a day and the next you’re putting away those newborn clothes and listening to sweet giggles. Insert all the sad eyes regarding those cute newborn clothes. It really does fly by and gets a lot easier in the meantime, especially if you’re a first time mom following along. Soak it in, thats all I’ve got to say! You blink and they are a little bit older and need you a little less.

Okay, before I start crying, let’s get to the good stuff!

Holy moly there are some awesome inventions out there since even having Corbin! I figured I would share my top 10 favorites for you and products that I use every day and LOVE!

10. Wubbanub Pacifier– The binky of all binkies. Loved these with Corbin too!

9. Baby Shusher– Just the best kept secret thats really no longer a secret. This portable sound machine is like a dream, literally. I turn this on and Camilla is asleep in minutes. It’s so good, I am nearly asleep in minutes too! You need this mama’s!

8. Mamaroo Swing– Still the best swing on the market IMO. It’s currently on sale too-BONUS!! It has 5 or 6 different movement settings, a dock for music from your phone or iPod, and is easy to clean. Corbin and Cam have lived in this thing! Always remember to buckle them up, especially when they are able to roll! **

7. Copper Pearl Car Seat Cover and swaddle blankets– Another product I didn’t have with Corbin that has changed my life. They are SO SOFT and the carseat cover doubles as a nursing cover as well. Such a good baby shower gift too! I have two covers I swap out and use the blankets daily!

6. Nose Frida– OMG I cannot believe I’m adding this to the list but it is a game changer. I refused to use this with Corbin but use it daily with Camilla. It’s 100 times better than the dreaded bulb sucker and I feel is much more sanitary. Once you get over the idea of sucking boogers out of your kids nose, it really isn’t so bad! 😉

5. Halo Bassinet– Camilla sleeps in this next to our bed every night. It has a few different settings for soothing, and makes me feel comfortable knowing she’s right next to us. Love how it also adjusts to the height of the bed and is convenient in that it swivels and the sides slide down to enable picking her up and laying her back down.

4. Haakaa Silicon Breast Pump– If you’re breastfeeding, this is life! Seriously, it helps maintain milk production, and keeps waste at bay. I use it on the opposite side when nursing during every feeding and its allowed me to store and freeze milk.

3. Dock-A-Tot– For co-sleeping or travel this is a must! Easy to maneuver and I actually carry it from room to room if Camilla is sleeping or wants to play under her gym. Also, she only wakes up once at night and a big part I believe is due to this product.

2. Owlet Monitor– Worth every penny IMO. It alerts you on your phone if something is wrong with baby by giving O2 levels and heart rate at your finger tips at all times and gives peace of mind when transitioning baby to crib at night or during nap time.

1. Doona– The greatest invention to date. A carseat/stroller combo. Pricey, but SO stinkin worth it. I LOVE this thing and would buy it again twice.

There are a few more products I could list that I swear by and love, but these are the most consistent in our every day routine. Hoping this is a helpful list if you’re in the market for baby items or gifts! Send me any questions regarding any of the above if you have them in the comments and have a lovely weekend, friends!

Camilla One Month Update

A946E755-6DF5-4B08-9EA9-9F89EFAD9D5D

Hi friends, so I just published her birth story, but figured I would go ahead and update you on our sweet one month old. It’s crazy to think it’s already been one month since our little girl made her grand entrance into the world. She is doing great and beginning to do more than just sleep, so I thought I’d share a little more about how things are going.

First, Camilla is a super relaxed baby literally ALL the time and already has such a good, sweet disposition, or I like to think so anyway. She’s been eating in 4 hour intervals, sometimes 5 at night, so I feel much more rested than when I was pregnant. She is super strong, now lifting her head for several seconds at a time and focusing much more on objects. She loves bath time, being naked and kicking around. She just flails and coos and every now and then will give you the biggest smile. If I’m across the room and she hears me, she turns her head to find me almost every time. She follows voices, especially mine and Corbin’s and loves when he sings to her. She get this big grin on her face when he’s talking to her and it just melts my mama heart. I think she’s pretty fond of her brother bear! She also loves staring at the ceiling fans, ha and is enamored with the wallpaper in her room. She just sits and stares when I’m changing her. One thing she’s starting to get more used to is tummy time. At first she was not a fan, but each day it gets a little better and I honestly think she’s going to be rolling over before we know it. She already likes her side and tries to push herself over. I don’t think I’m quite ready for that yet so it’s fine by me if she takes her time. Her mamaroo has been awesome during play time. She just rocks and watches the world go by, and let’s mama work on the laundry. 🙂 I remember it being one of my favorite products when Corbin was little too! He loved that thing and I got stuff done.

She had some reflux issues right when we brought her home so she sleeps elevated in her dock a tot at night. We’ll soon be transitioning her to her halo bassinet, but for now she’s content in the dock a tot and it gives me peace of mind as well. I love having her near me and being able to take it in different rooms with me while I’m doing house work or blogging is so nice as well, while she naps. One of my favorite things she does right now is she’ll giggle in her sleep and it’s the sweetest. Her big brother still does this and it makes me laugh every time. My grandma and mom both have always said, the angels must be playing with them in their dreams, and I think that’s most accurate. Those grins and giggles get me every time and are just so precious. She also loves to be held and I’m by no means complaining. I love snuggling with her and am soaking up every minute.

We’re loving watching Camilla grow by the day. She’s 8.5 pounds now, and is starting to get some rolls and filling out around her face. It’s amazing how quickly they grow and how much they change over such a short amount of time.

We had her well check almost two weeks ago and they had to prick her foot for a routine newborn panel and she was sound asleep. I don’t know about you but I’m that mom who dreads all the shots and the foot pricking and may or may not cry more than my kids. Well, the nurse warned beforehand that she would start screaming after they pricked her foot, so Corbin and I were prepared and ready for what was about to take place. They pricked her foot and the child didn’t move. Corbin told the nurse, wow, my sister is braver than me and it was just so funny. She got through that so well and never even flinched. Just giving you an idea of how easy she is. Above all though, I’m just happy and thankful that she’s healthy and that all is well. What a blessing and a gift she is to our family!

We’ll be going to Dallas for the weekend in the next couple weeks and so I’ll be sure to update you all on how well she travels, as with the flu season, we haven’t left our house much or been in the car for long periods of time. I’ve been much more afraid of germs this time around and have tried to stay away from crowded places as much as possible. Now that it’s getting warmer and spring is springing, I hope to be getting out more and actually enjoying some fresh air. I think Dallas will be fun and I hope she does well on the trip! So far, I feel like she will be great and be a little world traveler like her brother was.

Anyway, I hope your day has been simple amazing and just wanted to give you a quick update on our girl! Happy Thursday!!

Meet Camilla Kate

I can’t believe I’m finally sitting down to write a birth story and that Friday marked one whole month with our sweet little Camilla Kate. Yet, it honestly feels like she’s been with us this entire time; I don’t know what we ever did before her, as its truly been the sweetest four weeks with our girl.

Camilla

Rewinding just a bit and going back to around week 34, I went in for a routine check up and found out my regular OB/GYN doctor who is wonderful and delivered Corbin would no longer be able to deliver Camilla because he was having to take medical leave. Eek, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit concerned. Facing having to find a new doctor pretty late in the game that took our insurance and that I felt comfortable with had me a little panicked. Luckily, my doctor was able to accommodate us based on our circumstances, as well as his other patients’ and I was placed with a new OB I had heard nothing but amazing things about through friends who currently see him. He was thorough, had a wonderful staff, and his personality and bedside manner put my fears and “slight panic” at ease from the moment I met him. I feel strongly, regardless of your choice in choosing a physician, doula, or midwife, you should 100% feel comfortable and confident in their knowledge and ability to make your experience the best it can possibly be and he did just that.

During my first visit, we came up with a birth plan, if you will. I was induced with Corbin at 39 weeks and we decided due to my previous experience we would do the same. We talked about induction between the 14th of February up to my actual due date on the 21st and decided to see what availability the hospital had as my due date got closer.

Camilla

Camilla

Then, around 37 weeks I was awoken by what I thought were just mild contractions. They started as tightening in my stomach followed by shooting pains in my back then down into my legs. They got so intense that I ended up waking Conrad because I thought I was for sure in labor. He stayed home with me into that morning and took Corbin to school before leaving for work. Thankfully, the pain subsided before Conrad left and it never returned. So strange, I know, and I still don’t know what it was exactly but I’m so thankful she decided to stay put for a couple more weeks and that I was feeling back to normal again for the remainder of my pregnancy.

During my last appointment at week 39, my doctor confirmed our induction scheduled for February 15th and insisted that I go in the night before the induction to start Cervidil (cervical softening). I was already dilated but he felt it was necessary to go ahead with the Cervidil. Chlorophil/Borophil (name that movie). 🙂 Totally reminds me of that line for whatever reason. Ha! Let me just say, that with Corbin I wasn’t dilated or not much that I recall, didn’t have Cervidil at all, only Pitocin and he was born in 6 hours from start to finish. So, I was honestly surprised with having to go in early and remember thinking, “I hope this doctor lives close by because he may have to run up and catch this baby.” He was pretty adamant in his opinion of thinking we probably wouldn’t have a quick delivery this time around so I just went with it. I registered with the hospital to go in on the night of the 14th, (Happy Valentine’s Day to us) and start the labor process. I was so excited to have a date confirmed and that we would soon meet our precious baby! I called everyone to tell them “the date” after that appointment because I simply couldn’t contain myself.

Camilla

Those next couple of days flew by and before we knew it, we were waking up to Valentine’s Day.  I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of roses from my sweet boys, got Corbin up, fed, and dressed and gave him his little V-Day goodie bag before heading to school to attend all the parties. We had a fun day celebrating and I decided to take him out of school early so I could spend the day with just him before heading to the hospital that evening. My dad got to town around 2 p.m., as he, Tim, and Taylor would be in charge of Corbin for the night and into baby day. Corbin and I played, I stole lots of kisses, dad and Conrad grabbed some take-out and I showered while waiting on the call that they were ready for us to head to the hospital. Around 8 p.m. I decided to call and see if they were ready for us, as I had heard nothing, and the nurse told me to hang tight because they were completely full. She called me back around 10 p.m. and said she would call and let me know as soon as they had a room available. I’m truly so glad we were able to hold off for the night. Corbin came in our room and I got one last night of extra snuggles with just he and his daddy before becoming a family of four. It was so sweet and special to have that entire night with him. Then, around 4:30 a.m. the charge nurse called and said to be at the hospital around 6:30 a.m. It was go time!! I put some make up on, curled my hair and we threw our “bags” and everything but the kitchen sink in the car. I packed WAY too much this time, shocker I know! I snuck in and kissed my sleepy little C man one last time before heading out the door.

Camilla

On the way to the hospital, Conrad and I were talking about how we couldn’t believe it was time to meet our girl and how at peace I felt this time around. It was such a change for me and I really just felt excited and so ready to meet her. When we went to have Corbin I’ll admit I was a little bit of a train wreck inside, if I’m being honest. It was all due to the fear of actual child birth, which sounds so silly now (thanks friends who had gone before me with all the horror stories) and I may have cried a little walking into the hospital holding my husbands hand. Haha! Let me say, I really was so excited to meet him and hold him but the thought of labor was so terrifying to me. Thinking back, I was little dramatic, especially having now been through it twice and having an amazing experience both times. I felt much more at ease this go round and my anxiety was gone. What I think I realized most after the first delivery is that God has us in the palm of his hand, his will be done and Conrad using bribery with the promise of Chick-Fil-A after delivery never hurt either. Haha! He clearly knows the way to my heart through nuggets and well done fries, y’all!

camilla

After arriving at the hospital, changing into my hospital gown and signing my life away, the nurse began my antibiotics and fluids. Shortly after, my doctor came in, gave the go-ahead to start the “half pill” of Cervidil and ensured me that this delivery would more than likely be much slower and that the other half of the Cervidil pill would be given to me after a couple hours of laboring. I started having some pretty intense contractions about an hour into the Cervidil. I have to say, I never really experienced labor pains with Corbin, as they gave me my epidural thirty minutes after starting the Pitocin. At this point though, the pain was intensifying and my contractions were getting closer together, so needless to say, I was ready for some meds! I was watching the monitor for when they would come on so I could prepare to breathe and not actually hold my breath. There were some mountains on that tiny screen and I was feeling all the things. Seriously though, kudos to you mama’s who take the all natural route, Whew! Y’all are rockstars!! Before the anesthesiologist could come in, my doctor decided it was time to break my water. That wasn’t terribly pleasant but I knew my relief was coming soon after so that made it bearable. The anesthesiologist came in and administered my epidural right after which was around 2-3 hours after my initial first round of Cervidil and once in place I enjoyed a couple of popsicles and some ice chips, all before taking a 30 minute power nap on the peanut. If you haven’t experienced a peanut, it is this huge peanut shaped contraption that acts somewhat as a body pillow. In my case, it was used to get Camilla to turn face down. She had been head down but sunny side up for weeks and they wanted to see if she would turn. Luckily, she did! After about an hour on the peanut, I was checked again and was dilated to about a 7. My doctor had a C-section to tend to and figured I still had some time to labor so he was making his way to the OR. By this time, Conrad and my mom were placing bets on how much longer it would be until we met our baby girl. Conrad said 1:30, I guessed 1:45 and my mom, thinking she was joking at first said 12:45. I thought she was a little ambitious, as it was only around noon by this point. Yet, fifteen minutes after this conversation and being at a 7, my nurse came in and checked me again, confirming I was ready to push. We’re talking 12:15ish! Say what?! To top it off, next door a mama was at the exact same stage of labor about to deliver, my doctor was in a C-section, and it had to feel a little chaotic for the nurses but they just handled it all so perfectly and with such grace. They were prepared and ready and had the room set up for when my doctor got out of surgery! By 12:30 my doctor was back in my room and ready to deliver. It was like bam, bam, bam.

Camilla

At 12:35 I began pushing and by 12:39 our sweet Camilla Kate Henderson made her grand debut weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz. was 20 inches long, with a head full of hair and was absolute perfection! She let out the sweetest cry as they laid her on my chest and she drifted off to sleep soon after. It was so incredibly special and that feeling of seeing your newborn baby for the first time is an emotion that can’t be explained or accurately described. It’s overwhelming, powerful and the greatest joy.

Around thirty minutes later, Corbin was brought up and Conrad and I got to introduce him to his little sister by ourselves as a family of four. It was a precious moment I’ll cherish forever and so perfect as I really wanted us to be able to have that time together. He loved her immediately and he’s been so sweet with her ever since. He holds her hand, sings to her, and is always checking on her and making sure she’s okay. He’s such an amazing helper and does so much for her, well besides changing diapers 😉 At first, the age difference kind of worried me a little, as it’s just been us with him for four years, but I’m so proud of how gentle he is with her and how smoothly he’s transitioned into his role as big brother. It’s almost like she’s been with us forever and I couldn’t have asked for it to go better. I just feel really blessed to have two precious, healthy babies.

Camilla

Camilla

Camilla

As for our Camilla, she is seriously the sweetest and most laid back baby. She rarely cries, isn’t affected by the dogs barking or the boys rough-housing, loves to be held, and is extremely content. I can’t wait to see what her personality is like as she grows, but for now she just goes with the flow and even has her daddy wrapped around her finger. She constantly smiles, I’ve even witnessed a few giggles, and she completes us so perfectly. We are in love and adjusting to life so well together.

Camilla

In typing this with one sleeping babe on my chest and the other lying next to me, I’m overcome with gratefulness. To be called mommy and to have such a loving and supportive family through these new and exciting changes, makes me so thankful. I’ve been soaking it all in lately, as I know with each passing day both of my babies grow a little more and need me a little less. I’ve been counting my blessings and praising Him for his unfailing love, for fulfilling my hearts desires and trusting me with such beautiful gifts.

Camilla

Welcome to the world our sweet, beautiful Camilla Kate. We’re so happy you’re here and you are already so very loved.

Valentine’s Day Gifting

Valentine’s Day Gifting

Happy Monday!

It may just be me, but January seemed to slowly squeak by and it seems like February is flying! Hence why this has become a last minute gift idea post! So, let’s talk Valentine’s Day and gifting for those last minute surprises for your significant other and even your kids.

Now, don’t get me wrong, personally I love fresh blooms and won’t ever turn down chocolate, but sometimes being treated by your spouse to a latte and mani/pedi is every bit as appreciated in my opinion. Knowing your love language and theirs in a relationship or marriage I feel is so important in how you handle daily life and special occasions, like Valentine’s Day. For instance, mine is words of affirmation and gifts, and my husbands is acts of service. Therefore, I love a new killer pair of shoes, or a handwritten sweet note, or just to be told I am loved. Simply put, these are the ways to my heart. Conrad is more of a show me you love me by cooking dinner and ironing my jeans kind of language. 🙂 It’s nice to know how to ensure that your partner feels appreciated, not only on special days but in general. If you don’t know your love language, I would highly encourage you and your significant other to read Gary Chapman’s book here. It really is worth the read and is a great resource in improving communication and how to love your spouse well.

Like I said above, “gifts” are one of my languages. So, I have a few items I think the woman in your life will love, guys! Check them out by clicking the links below.

I personally could not be more thankful to have found Stork Vision and to have met Lori. When I was around 10-12 weeks pregnant, I decided to forgo the genetic testing that was offered by my healthcare provider, as I know my heart and that it wouldn’t have changed my decision regardless, but would have made me much more anxious regarding the results. My opinion alone, as I have several friends who do the testing and it’s completely a decision that is your own. Although, we didn’t do the testing, I was still very interested to know what our baby’s gender was, as was my sweet mama. Y’all know we were dying to find out if we in fact were having a girl! I decided to order the Sneak Peak kit off of Amazon, which is a blood test that had really good reviews and let me tell you, it was intense, as I’ve mentioned before. I literally had to be home alone, even our male dog had to be outside and not near me when I took the test to eliminate the possibility of contamination. Apparently, testosterone of any kind can change the outcome of that specific test. I remember having to wash my hands about 4 times, do arm exercises, all before pricking my finger to fill a tiny vile to be sent off. I had the results emailed to one of my very best friends to help with a small gender reveal. Then, around 14 weeks our son hit a golf ball in our back yard and pink smoke went everywhere! We were elated! Even though deep down I felt as though the test was accurate, my husband and I still had our doubts, and he encouraged me to postpone shopping until we knew for sure, so thats when I decided to reach out to Stork Vision and make my first appointment with them to confirm the gender of our baby. In all honesty, I should have just gone to Lori in the first place, as it would have saved a solid hour or so of my day, and saved my arm from the ridiculous arm exercises I had endured. 😉 Their Prince or Princess Package is what I signed up for and is a great option if you’re wanting to find out what you’re having. I was also unaware until recently, but Stork Vision supplies a broad selection of heartbeat animals that make great keepsakes and hold precious sentimental value and they can provide gender reveal envelopes upon request, which is the way to go if you’re wanting a fun surprise!

At 16 weeks, I met Lori for the first time and she confirmed we were having a BABY GIRL!!! I was so excited to finally share the exciting news with more than just immediate family and obviously the shopping could officially begin. Plus, it was so amazing to see our little girl in 2D/3D and to view her precious little profile and watch her kick and move around. A fun memory I’ll forever cherish thanks to Lori and Stork Vision. About a month ago I spoke with Lori about a potential collaboration to see our baby for the last time before her birth and she was so incredibly generous to allow me to come in for a 3D/4D session. With me being further along, we were concerned we might not be able to get a good view since she is officially head down. I drank a vanilla milkshake and LOTS or water and hoped for the best. Sure enough, she let us see her sweet face, chubby cheeks and LOTS of hair and it was simply amazing! To see how realistic the images were and just witnessing how much she already loves her hands made this mama melt and I just love her so much already. I left Lori’s office SO excited to meet our baby girl in just four short weeks. It’s a little crazy to me to think that she’ll soon be in my arms and feels surreal! You all are so lucky to because Stork Vision is kindly offering my readers $25 OFF their Deluxe Package for those of you who would love to also experience a 4D session. This package includes a 30 minute session, 5 black and white photos, an online gallery of images to share with family and friends and a DVD recording. All you have to do is mention my name or Bluebonnets and Bowties when booking your session for this amazing and limited opportunity. You won’t be disappointed mama’s! I am so glad I got to meet with Lori and am so grateful to have these images forever.

Call today to book your session or go to this link to be redirected to their website to learn more about Stork Vision, their practices and to make an appointment with Lori. It’s so simple and such a fun, and exciting experience that I would recommend for anyone expecting. Hurry while these amazing offers last!

Styling a Black Leather Skirt

Styling a Black Leather Skirt

News Flash!!!

Along with animal print, skirts are majorly on trend this fall! Mostly broom and leather, but in this case I’ll be sharing and showing you three ways to style a black leather skirt. Really, how you can style them in general, not only a few ways! I love how versatile a leather skirt can be. They are fit for many occasions and can be worn season after season; from summer, to fall, winter and spring. They are so cute year round and I’m so happy to see them being styled all over the gram right now!

I will say, I think there’s a misconception about leather skirts and that they can only be styled one or two ways and only a certain person can pull them off! Also, a myth  I’m here put to rest and to share a few ideas I wear often and know will look great on you too, if you’ve been on the fence on whether to not to pull the trigger in adding one to your closet this season.

One common way I’ve seen most and feel is most classic is a sweater, fitted or oversized, with a fun bootie, printed embossed snakeskin or leopard. My favorite look today is a spin on the traditional yet a little edgier. I love to pair my skirts with graphic tees and throw on a denim jacket and a wide brim hat. It’s more of a boho meets rocker chic and a look I think would be so cute for a concert, girl’s night out, or even date night. I probably won’t be wearing this for drop off or pick up, 😉 but think it’s so fun for those mentioned above! You can also totally dress it down. One way I wear it just running around town is to style with a basic white tee and a converse sneaker like the ones linked below. Staying on trend, but also keeping it more casual. I’ll throw on a denim jacket if it’s a cooler day, or tie a plaid flannel around my waist. Another shoe option for this look is to style it with a combat boot. Also making a statement this fall. I never thought I’d say I own a pair of Dr. Marten’s past high school, freshman year at that, but here we are! What goes around, comes around Amiright?! I’m thinking these or these to complete the look.

Facetune_16-10-2019-22-22-04

Facetune_16-10-2019-22-23-14

Another laid-back style is just pairing it with a classic and easy oversized sweater, like the one I have pictured, a ball cap, crossbody, and my Golden Goose. This look is perfect for rooting on your favorite team (guns up) and if you’re a true fan add a pop of color on top and a spirited earring to give the outfit a little pizzazz. Such a fun way to style it, while remaining effortless and chic. I personally love to style my skirts this way, especially with sneakers because I feel like it creates more of an everyday look and can be pulled off so easily without trying too hard.

Lastly, snazzy up your black leather skirt starting with a body con base. I would suggest a bodysuit or more fitted top, especially if you plan to layer. I think this is exceptionally true when adding a faux fur vest, teddy coat or faux fur coat. Going back to the bodysuit. It doesn’t have to be boring. Mine is a burnout fabric with velvet leopard but it’s subtle enough to not be overkill. Add in some texture if you feel like the basics are too basic. Now faux fur. I have a few that are fluffier than others, for a lack of better term, and feel a slimmer base is needed to achieve that polished look. I like to finish this look off with an over the knee boot. You can go a step further and add a hat or like me, just accessorize with a pair of oversized sunglasses. I also think a trench over the top is so pretty and chic. So good for holiday parties, or social events that require you to be a little more dressed up. I am LOVING these trench options and think keeping it monochromatic is so classic and also so on trend. You can also wear a black leather jacket on top too. Sets are also a big trend, so putting pieces together that look like they were bought that way, is never a bad idea. Especially if it’s still warm in your area for coats and vests. I’ve also decided to link a couple of skirts that are a little longer too, so if you’re in the workforce, these would be appropriate for special events, holiday office parties, etc as well. To cinch in your waist, you can always add a fun belt to accentuate, when adding a coat over the top to give your waist a smaller illusion. Love this too if you’re not big into jewelry. It will provide a little more put togetherness and then complete the outfit with a tall boot or heel if you prefer.
