Som Sleep Review

Happy Thursday!!

As a mom, wife, and new blogger, there are many nights I have been unable to sleep or have suffered from insomnia in feeling like I have so much to do to accomplish for the day ahead and before I know it its 3 a.m. Anyone else a little or a lot sleep deprived most days? I love a nap but who’s got time for that   and sometimes just wish I could get my body on the right sleep schedule and organize my life accordingly. It can’t be that hard, or can it?

That’s when SOM Sleep came into my life. It’s a new product, recently released in January 2018 and has none of the bad stuff most products used for sleeping have. It is vegan, gluten free, non-habit forming, contains vitamins, and many more, but most important; it’s safe, healthy, and effective. I would describe this product like a Tired Teddy for grown-ups! Just take it about 30 minutes before bedtime for a restful sleep.

Som Sleep contacted me and within a couple of days a four pack was on my doorstep and ready for me to try. That evening after dinner, getting my little man to bed and taking a relaxing bath myself, I decided I would give Som Sleep a go. I drank a can 30 minutes before drifting off into a full nights sleep. Y’all, I didn’t even wake up once! This is kind of unheard of for me, as I tend to wake up and stir around in the dead of night basically religiously. I woke feeling rested, awake and didn’t go RUNNING to my Keurig like usual. It was more like a normal paced walk. 😉

For the next three nights I continued using Som Sleep and found it helpful to actually go to sleep rather than lay there starring at the ceiling. I’m still struggling with the schedule that I should be on, but definitely felt more rested and alert after trying these products. Plus, they taste good! I wasn’t slamming a chalky or energy type tasting drink. It was smooth and easy to drink.

I would definitely recommend them if you’re someone who suffers from insomnia, someone who needs a little rest, or just want to sleep as good as your husband!

Thank you to Som Sleep for allowing me to try your new products! If interested, you can visit their website here and follow them on Instagram @getsomsleep.

Have a great rest of your week!!

Rose and Rex

Rose and Rex

Happy Tuesday!!!

Today, Corbin and I are sharing an adorable, interactive, and fun toy company with you all that we have absolutely fallen in LOVE with!!

Rose and Rex is a teacher-curated collection of unique and sophisticated toys that promote childhood development through imaginary play. They range from teethers and rattles to building blocks, dress-up kits and many options for children in infancy to age ten and even older. This distinctive toy collection is teaching children skill building and cultivating problem solving through learning and “playing” it forward. Plus, they have such amazing quality and potential to be passed down for generations to come.

One of my favorite things about Rose and Rex is that they give back. I absolutely love when companies have a heart for others, specifically those in need. Allison, the founder of Rose and Rex has made an intentional effort to support charities such as Second Chance Toys that refurbish and donate plastic toys to children in need to promote and give children an opportunity to learn, grow and play. Rose and Rex is also affiliated with 1% for the Planet. Meaning they are committed to giving 1% of their sales to assist in generating a healthier planet; protecting forests, oceans, rivers and so much more. This stands out to me as a customer as I know a portion of what I purchase is going to something good and that makes me eager to support their efforts so when they contacted me regarding a collaboration, besides the amazing selection of toys they provide, needless to say, there was NO hesitation in saying yes!

If you know Corbin well, you know his love for anything on wheels, specifically tractors and trucks. So we obviously HAD to have the Candylab Bad Emergency Truck. He literally takes it everywhere!! It’s made its debut in church, to the grocery store, the pool and unbelievably is still looking brand new. He also chose the Eco Sea Rock Crayons. These are SO cool, y’all! They literally look like rocks but color so smoothly and I already have several new masterpieces on my refrigerator that he’s proudly created. A perk is that they are $10 and would be such a great gift to pair with a coloring book or thinking even further down the road, stocking stuffer!! Holla!! Rose and Rex also has a broad selection of gift ideas, so if you’re stumped on what to give your favorite little, they have you covered and a full tab of great ideas specified under “gifting”.

Rose and Rex literally has so much to offer and I am SO glad to have connected with them and even more so, thankful to have been able to partner together. Check out their amazing site here. They offer free shipping on purchases of $150 or more, and are also able to ship internationally! You will love their broad selection of beautiful toys that your kids will enjoys for years to come.

Thank you, Rose and Rex!!

Wedding Guest Dress Guide

Wedding Guest Dress Guide

It seems as though we’re right, smack dab in the middle wedding season, which is why I thought I would address one of the most frequently requested posts, which has been what to wear to a wedding.

West Texas, or really anywhere in Texas its HOT! Which means you want to look you best but still be able to breathe and not be sweating profusely. I’ve chosen a few options that are timeless and show stopping, but won’t make you want to crawl into a refrigerator, and can be worn to other functions and events this season.

One of the big trends for the season and one that is timeless and classic is lace. I love these pretty options, some of which are on sale and definitely worth scoping out.

Another fun option that I love is flowy, maxi dress styles. These work if you’re expecting, are generally comfortable and allow you to eat and conceal all the wedding cake. 🙂 Check out a few favorites below. Including the one I’m wearing in the post.

Show off your summer tan in a bright pop of color. From hot pink to canary yellow and lilac, color is a huge this season and looks so pretty on everyone. Look at these options below for shopping or just inspiration.

Last but not least, you can never go wrong with a classic little black dress. Sharing a few options below, some show colors but come in a black option and I think would look lovely for any occasion no matter your role in the wedding scene.

Happy Wedding Season!!!

Vi Peel & Sunspot Treatment

Hi friends and welcome to Wednesday! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far.

Today’s post is about to get super real, and by real, no makeup, my skin will be shown peeling like a snake and I’ll be sharing my expectations, experience, and results of the Vi Peel with you all today. Note: If you get grossed out easily, you may want to scroll past a couple of the photos shown.

If you know me personally or have been following along for a while, you know I HATE my sunspots. I was diagnosed with Melasma recently and had been treating them using a laser, which I found out is actually a treatment that can darken them and make them appear much faster after being treated. Oh goodie!! They are not harmful, but are a complete nuisance. Regardless, I have never liked them, feel self conscious without makeup and have been beyond ready to treat them in a different and more effective way for a couple of years now. Also, if you aren’t familiar, Melasma is also known as the Mask of Pregnancy, but is particularly common in women who are taking contraceptives, who are pregnant or who have spent a lot of time in the sun. I am the girl in that category who spent WAY too much time in the sun without a care in the world, or sunscreen on my face. So now, I have a significantly large sunspot on my cheek, that has darkened and when I became pregnant with Corbin became much more noticeable and never went away postpartum.

Therefore, I thought this would be the prefect opportunity to get my skin to where I want it to be and to get that healthy glow I’ve always wanted. The watch, we’ll get pregnant with baby #2 and I’ll have to start ALL over! Ha! Until then, fingers crossed, I’ll have smoother skin with less darkening!

Also, let me say since I used to bask in the sun with little to no sunscreen in my early twenties and just recently started using a moisturizer and sunscreen within the past couple of years, one piece of wisdom and advice I can give you is to take care of your skin NOW!!! As early as possible, y’all! I honestly wish I had been better younger. Sunscreen is a life saver! End rant! Seriously though, take it seriously at a younger age so you won’t have to do as much later! 😉

Lastly, before we get into the peel, lets talk facials. Get them. As often as possible. If I’m being honest, I used to think they broke my skin out and I didn’t want to have zits all over my face but in our dry climate, they are a must! They are great for exfoliating, help to lock in moisture and keep your skin healthy and leave a fresh, dewy finish. I am starting to go regularly and am beginning to notice a difference in my skin and its texture simply from my monthly facials alone. I highly recommend doing this for your skin as frequently as you can. They are so worth it!

Finally, the reason for writing this post! I had discussed the Vi Peel with my esthetician, Alyson while getting a facial and she recommended this chemical peel for a variety of reasons. To even my skin tone, help with hyper-pigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines, but to also soften the texture of my skin and help to lighten my Melasma. We finished up my facial and booked my peel for the following week.

Honestly though after leaving and I had time to process what I had just signed up for, the idea of a “chemical” peel sounded a little terrifying in my opinion. I know SO many people get them and go regularly (yearly) but I was nervous going in that it would burn and that I would be totally miserable. When I arrived that following week, Alyson assured me it wasn’t nearly as bad as it sounds and that the end result would be worth it. She began by cleansing my skin and after put an alcohol based liquid on top to ensure I had nothing left on my skin before beginning the peel. So, it didn’t burn at all and I actually think I had worked it up much more than I needed to. She applied the peel and I was literally out of the office in 30 minutes max. She sent a kit home with me that contained products I would need for my home care over the next couple if days. The peel made my skin look orange leaving the day spa and got to be darker as the day went on. Below are three photos right after the peel was applied. FYI, I know my eyelashes are falling out! LOL! Also, none of these photos are touched at all.

There were towelettes, a facial cleanser, anti-itch cream and sunscreen. I was to wait 4 to 6 hours before using the towelette to scrub my face and then wash my face that evening with the cleanser before heading to bed. I made it the entire 6 hours with no problem. I was pretty impressed, considering the baby I am when it comes to discomfort. I wasn’t uncomfortable at all. I may have spoke a little too soon because about 30 minutes to an hour after washing my face, I was itching like CRAZY!!! Mind you, you aren’t supposed to scratch your face or peel anything so I was miserable to say the least. I took a couple Advil and finally fell asleep. It was honestly the worst part about this entire process. Or a close second to my skin falling off. Haha!!

The second day was nothing. I woke up, used the second towelette in my pack and washed my face then applied the anti-itch cream and sunscreen. I looked normal again and the itching was much more under control than the night before.

Day 3. Here is where it gets interesting. I woke up, used my final towelette, washed my face only to realize my skin was starting to peel and applied my anti-itch and sunscreen. By noon, I looked like Mrs. Doubtfire when she smashes her face into the whipped pie, only mine was skin, not cool whip. I literally wasn’t going ANYWHERE on day 3. Alyson warned me that the third and fourth days were the worst, and boy she wasn’t kidding! It was literally comical and so hard NOT to peel off. If you like to pick at your face, this may not be for you! My husband might have been terrified of me on day 3, just sayin. This is also where you may want to scroll haha! It’s pretty gross!!

Day 4. I would like to say it gets better, but I would be lying. I’m still losing my skin like a snake, but feel no itching or discomfort. By the end of the day, most of the skin has peeled off and I’m starting to look like a normal human again. PTL!! I used the cleanser, and anti-itch that evening before getting into bed.

Day 5. I went first thing to see Alyson for my post peel facial. It felt SO freakin good to get the left over skin removed and have my skin exfoliated. I left her office feeling like a brand new woman. I was also able to start using foaming cleanser as well and get back into a normal routine. I started using Cera Ve during this transition back to normalcy and liked how gentle it was on my skin. Alyson also recommended Organic Aloe Vera so I was also applying this at night and it helped with itching and to keep my skin moisturized. The Aloe can be found at any organic market. Sprouts is where I got mine. Here is my moisturizer. It’s pricey but SO good. Alyson also recommended to stay out of the sun, obviously during the peel, but also until my skin had healed enough, so around a week or so after the peel. Use sunscreen for that time frame and there after but crucially right after being treated. Also, take note: No waxing for two weeks after your peel.

After a couple of weeks, I noticed my sunspots were lightening, my skin felt so incredibly smooth and my make up was going on so well. My skin was balancing out and looking better every day. I experienced some acne as some things were coming to the surface, but the fine lines that I was starting to notice were no longer as visible. I did still have hyper-pigmentation but it was overall much better than before the peel. I would say thats a pretty big win after only a couple of weeks.

Now, having been a month, I can honestly say, I am happy with my results. I feel like my skin is much smoother, the texture is so much better, my sunspots have lightened, although, not completely gone, they have faded tremendously. We are currently talking and are going to do further treatments soon to help eliminate them even more, but for now, I feel really good in my skin and am so thankful to have found Alyson. She is so knowledgable, and I trust she would be the perfect person to contact regarding all your facial needs. Plus, she has beautiful skin and knows the importance of which products work best for which skin types. I am excited to continue this journey to healthy skin and I know Alyson will help me achieve my goals.

If you would like more information on the Vi Peel or any services pertaining to skincare, coolsculpting, botox or just need a good facial, contact Renew You Day Spa at 806-712-7368 and ask for Alyson Hamilton. She is amazing and so sweet, you will love her!!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope this is helpful and answers most questions you may have!!

Have a great week!!

Father’s Day Gift Guide

Hello All!!

Father’s Day is T minus 6 days away and if you haven’t found the perfect gift, I’m hoping this post will give you a little inspiration for the men in your life!

Let me start by bragging on my hubs for a minute. He does SO much for our family without hesitation or complaint and we are beyond lucky he is ours. He is so much more than I could have ever prayed for or imagined as a father to our son and works so hard to give us this beautiful life, while keeping God the center of his. Y’all, I literally melt into a puddle watching he and Corbin interact and all of the precious moments and how much he teaches him daily are simply priceless and make me fall that much more in love with him. Corbin loves his daddy more than anyone on this earth and Conrad adores him right back. I could not be more grateful to have him as my husband and Corbin is such a blessed little boy to have such an incredible daddy to look up to and to learn from as he grows. Their relationship is precious and so special. God has been so good to us and I pray Conrad feels all the love on this Father’s Day!

Here are a few favorites that Conrad loves and several options for the dad, husband, brother, or friend in your life.

Ideas not pictured include: A round of golf at his favorite club or course, even 4ore if you’re a Lubbock local. A truck detail to clean up his pride and joy. Game day tickets to a baseball game or to watch his favorite football team in the fall. Mancrates are also a fun idea and can be found, here.

Happy Father’s Day to my favorite men! Conrad, Daddy, Tim, Pa, Papa, and Ralph! I am so thankful for each of you, and love you all so very much!!!

Swimsuits for EVERY body

Swimsuits for EVERY body

Happy Thursday!

Does anyone else feel like we went from winter straight into summer and missed spring? It has been SO hot here lately in West Texas and has had me poolside every possible opportunity. Which is why, it’s time to talk swimwear! This topic has been one that is constantly requested so I figured it would be a good one to cover today on the blog!

As a mom and wife next to the many other hats I wear, I’ll be honest in saying, although I wish I was better at forming habits, I am someone who will work out one day and skip two weeks and not think twice about it. That is, until May rolls around. Then, I have that work out “guilt”. Anyone else? I, like the rest of you am constantly trying to find what I look best in when it comes to hiding areas and sucking in what needs to be contained, and finding the most flattering fit. If I can chase my toddler around with convince and feel comfortable, then it’s a winner! I love a cute bikini but have recently started leaning towards one pieces a lot in the last couple of years and I am so glad they are a “thing” right now. I’ve chosen to compile a few suits I feel are suitable for different needs. We’ll begin with one piece and more full coverage. These options are great for all body types and accentuate all the right places.

Here’s a few tips in regard to prints as well. Stripes are huge right now and can be so cute. I would personally encourage vertical stripes if you choose a suit with striping of any kind. These stripes elongate and slim, which is especially good for those with a short torso, where as horizontal striping can widen areas you may not want to look wider. Here are a few striped and printed swimmies I’m loving below. Also, another fun fact in regards to prints vs. none is that if you have a flatter booty, prints help to accentuate and actually make your booty look bigger. If you have a big booty (right here) and want to create the illusion it’s smaller, try a solid design. One more important side note if you have some junk in the trunk like I do, steer clear of Brazilian or skimpier bottoms, unless that is simply the look you’re going for! You do you, boo! Just my opinion!

Let’s talk bikini’s. I love a good bikini and have a few that I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of because they have stood the test of time and have gone through many seasons with me. Anyone else wish Victoria’s Secret would bring back their swim line? I totally wish they would make a come back because I miss their selection and price point, so there’s that. Now, back to reality and the search for the perfect suit! So, at first, I wasn’t so sure, but I am officially loving the high waisted bikini trend right now. They truly do look so flattering on everyone. I love how they hide the mom pouch, y’all and I haven’t seen anyone they don’t look good on. These options below also suit every price range and some of the higher priced suits you will have for years to come!

Now sadly, this section definitely doesn’t pertain to me, but I’ve selected some options for you gals that may be a little bustier but still want to find a cute suit that is age appropriate and fun! This has been one of the most requested, as many suits that we come across in trying to find something can be a little more matronly and look frumpy! Don’t worry, friends! I have you covered! Literally! This section has some great options and size up to a G in most cases. Another take away is to potentially find a swim top with underwire for support so the girls are always in the right place through the cannon-balls and any other shenanigans you may get into at the pool. 😉

Now, if you’re like me and don’t have an issue in finding something to fit your chest, but want something that is accentuating, I would suggest trying a swim top that has ruffles, is embellished or even flowy at the top. This gives the illusion that you have a larger chest. Crazy right?! So true though! Check out these options below. If you have an athletic build, try a padded cup swim top and choose a suit that is bright and colorful and ideally printed. This will help to give you curves and will draw attention to the right places.

Next, all my pregnant mama’s out there!! Is anyone looking for cute maternity options?! Here are a few that look comfortable and so dang cute but are still bump friendly, especially for those who want to keep your bump covered, but don’t want a restricting suit around the bump. I mean obvi! The less restrictive the better, amiright? I’ve also selected a couple of bikini options as well! Take a look below.

So, I also have some adorable plus size options for you to browse! OMGosh, these are all SO cute!! I am loving the transitioning prints and how colorful these options are. You are going to LOVE them!! I wanted to also mention that if you have hips girl, don’t hide them, find a suit that balances shoulders to hips! Try a suit with an off the shoulder top to elongate the clavicle and balance out top to bottom. Below are a few examples.

For you sweet girls that don’t like to show skin due to burning or irritation, or simply just want that flawless skin when we’re old and grey, (you go girl!) here are a few swimsuits that will prevent sunburns and are great for keeping warm in colder waters, on the lake or beach.

Lastly, I thought I’d update you on sizing and how the brands above fit. I would suggest sizing up one size in ASOS as some of their swimwear I’ve noticed runs a little smaller. The same goes for Amazon and Forever 21. The brands or companies with brands I believe fit most True to Size are Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Macy’s and Everything but Water. Feel free to comment below or send me a message if you have any questions! At the end of the day, I am here to help you and be the best resource I can be.

Happy Swimming!!!

Zaful Review

Zaful Review

Happy Tuesday, friends!!

Today, I am so excited to be collaborating with Zaful to share with you this darling striped dress and cute accessories. I fell in love with these stripes at first sight and knew I had to have the mustard tassle earrings to pair with it. I mean, how can your beat $5 earrings that are THIS cute?!

I received my package in record time and could NOT wait to open it, as I had requested items through a wishlist prior to my order arriving and was hoping I would be sent the items requested. To my surprise, there they were! Exactly what I had selected!

I immediately put the dress on and would definitely say, it runs true to size. If you’re busty, I would suggest sizing up in this particular style as it does seem more fitted on top, especially with the button detail. I chose to unbutton the top button, as it was more comfortable and seemed to gape open a tad when closed. Overall, I found the quality to be good, especially for the price, it was not see through and looked exactly like the photo provided online. I also love that you can unbutton the bottom or completely button it all the way down. You can decide how you want to style this piece and make it your own. I love it paired with a big hat or on days where my hair is actually clean, I like to add a straw bag, some comfy sandals and a tassle earring or bracelet stack.

I will even go as far to say, I think this dress would be appealing to nursing mama’s because of the button detail.  Also, if you aren’t a fan of green, no worries, this dress comes in four colors and in my opinion, is the perfect summer maxi. Its flowy, for chips and salsa, has pockets, another perfect attribute for moms, and pairs so well with a straw hat or fun bag to accessorize, if you choose.

Finally, if you’re in the market for a fun, summer dress or a cute pair of earrings but don’t want to break the bank, Zaful has several great and affordable options. They don’t stop at dresses either, friends. Zaful even provides swimwear, hair accessories, rompers, jumpsuits and so much more to accommodate your needs. Check out their website here.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to leave them in the comments or message me through social media!

Have a great week!

A special thanks to Zaful for sponsoring this post.
