Happy 14 months to our little SWEETHEART!!! Can’t believe it’s taken me THIS long to get he first birthday post up, but lots of life has been happening around here, and I’m sure where you are as well!

For Camilla’s birthday I really wanted for everything to be sweet and feminine. We also decided that we wanted to do something a little smaller for her first birthday and chose to have family only instead of a big party this year. I remember Corbin’s first birthday as it was a big gathering in the August heat and although it was so nice and wonderful having our family and friends all together, it felt a little bit overcrowded, especially for a one year old. So we thought with it being winter and the unpredictability of the weather, a more intimate and simple setting was appropriate and it ended up being perfect.

Camilla’s actual birthday is on February 15th, so I thought how fun would it be to incorporate some hearts into the mix?! I found a photo while browsing Pinterest late one night and was hoping to find someone locally who might be able to re-create it for us for smash cake photos and for the actual party as well. We got so lucky with my mom being a wedding coordinator, she literally knows everyone and had happened to recently cross paths with a sweet girl named Claire, who actually creates balloon garlands as her own personal business. She is INCREDIBLE y’all and as sweet as can be! I called her and she and her team completely exceeded my expectations! Over the phone I was able to tell her what I wanted and our color scheme and she showed up to Camilla’s photoshoot ready to install the most precious (and large) 4 foot ombre heart balloon I had ever seen! It was PERFECT!! Then after photos, she proceeded to load it up, take it to my house, along with a couple of super cute jumbo balloons and set everything up in the exact same day so we were ready for the party the following day. She’s very reasonable and her work is seriously amazing! Definitely look her up on Instagram or Facebook and if you have an event coming up that requires balloons, call Claire with Laughing Goat Design. Loved her and was so impressed with how seamless the process was from beginning to end!

One other thing I wanted to mention was, I ordered her precious invites off of Etsy and was given the option to download them or to have them printed and I ended up doing both so I could have one for her baby book. So glad I thought to do this and would recommend Hunny Prints  to anyone needing to select invites or announcements for an event. They have such a broad and unique selection of invitations, party essentials, and were so timely. I received the invites within a couple of days after approval and was very impressed with the quality. I will definitely be using them again for any parties we have in the future. I just love Etsy in general because you can find the neatest, one of a kinds things and they are usually small businesses, which I love supporting.

Let’s talk cake! Once again, props to my mama for knowing all the best! Brenda Hawkins with Serendipity knocked it out of the park, as she always does! I sent her a few inspo pictures and she went above and beyond. The cakes, both smash and part, along with the personalized cookies were both adorable and delicious! Brenda is a precious friend, aside from being our favorite baker and I’m just so thankful for all of her hard work and for taking time out of her extremely busy schedule to make our cake dreams come true! She also makes some incredible wedding cakes, so any future brides to be, let her I know I sent you! She is one talented lady and can be found on Instagram and Facebook. You will be amazed at her attention to detail and will love her!

I posted a preview of Cami’s birthday photoshoot with Macalee Taylor Creative on her actual birthday and got SO many messages about her dresses and who took the photos. First, if you are looking for a photographer who is a boss at shooting children, families, and weddings, Macalee is your girl! Her work is absolutely STUNNING and I loved working with her! Did I mention she also has a studio in her home? Such a plus, especially with little ones who you know aren’t going to typically last more than thirty minutes taking photos. Macalee was so kind and helpful! She allowed us to take our time, we changed into two different outfits (with a baby you know how that can be) but it was such a fun and stress free experience. I’ll be honest, I’ve worked with several photographers doing what I do, we take A LOT of pictures, and although many are also incredibly talented and sweet, I’ve had several moments where I feel rushed and with kids involved you know how it can already be a little stressful. I constantly feel like I’m apologizing during shoots, anyone else? Why do kids turn into wild heathens when its time to take family pictures? It never fails! This time though, was SO different and I appreciate Macalee allowing us to be in her home and enjoy these special moments with our girl. I will forever cherish these sweet pictures and love how they turned out! They show off her little personality so well and I’m obsessed! You can find Macalee’s website here. She is SO good at what she does y’all!

The two dresses she wore during her photoshoot also were flooding my DM’s and also came from an Etsy shop called Like Angel. They have amazing reviews and I felt were exceptionally priced for the intricate detail, quality, and fact that they are shipped from the Ukraine. I was blown away by how gorgeous they were in person and they literally fit Camilla like a glove. Could not have been more perfect. I sent measurements to Elena and she made them to order and did a phenomenal job. In the US they would have been well over $100 each and probably not nearly as detailed. I would love to work with Elena again and think her shop would be perfect for anyone who has a little girl needing a flower girl dress, birthday, family photos, or you just feel like dressing your girls up in something beautiful, this shop is wonderful. Like I mentioned above, they do ship overseas so remember to order ahead of time and give plenty of advancement so you order will be received on time, but I was so pleased with the outcome and have linked Camilla’s exact dresses and other details from her party at the bottom of this post if you’d like to check them out!

It was overall such a beautiful day to celebrate our sweet, sassy, and beautiful one year old girl. We played, opened gifts, and ate lots of cake. We soaked in every moment with our precious girl. Watching our Camilla grow throughout this year has been such a blessing, it’s honestly hard for me to find the right words, but heres a little summary of year one.

From that first VERY long night at home, girlfriend CRIED all night long, yikes, to our morning walks, lots of snuggles with brother and dancing to lullabies with mommy. We loved Matthew West’s Safe and Sound. Saying your first and FAVORITE word “MAMA” (5 months), sitting up (6 months) and crawling (7 months). A very first airplane ride and trip to the beach, lots of pools days soaking up that sunshine, to fall and picking out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and then dressing up as a unicorn on Halloween. Lots of piggy back rides on daddy’s shoulders, rooting on bubba during basesball games, and all the nights tucking her into bed (our bed) oops once again. Celebrating her first Christmas, watching her take her first steps at 11 months, those contagious bath time giggles, and all the ruffles and big bows in between has just made me realize that all along she was the puzzle piece we had been missing. The piece that completes our little family of four and the huge blessing in the tiniest of packages. Don’t let her small stature fool you, she is fierce and that sass is REAL! Whew, daddy is in TROUBLE!! Not to mention those sparking blue eyes. She is going to get whatever she wants in this life with those eyes alone. Her warm smile and tight hugs are my very favorite. She gives the cutest little mischievous look when she’s up to something and in the mornings will sit in London and Oliver’s bed just for extra snuggles. Sometimes, she’ll even “read” to them and they love it. I have thoroughly enjoyed this past year with her, and watching she and Corbin, that’s the very best. Their bond, how they play and love on each other is heartwarming and makes me so proud. He caters to her every need and no one lights her up quite like Bubba! It is the most precious thing to witness. I pray they always love each other like they do now. It has truly been a wonderful year and I am so thankful God chose me to be Camilla’a mom and to love her every single day! You are so loved and are a complete joy to us all, Cami girl!

Happy birthday!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Who wants to make a bet that we’ll be in quarantine for Mother’s Day and get out just in time for Father’s Day? Corona does it again folks! Totally kidding and feel like dad’s should be equally celebrated but thought the likelihood of that being our situation this year was pretty humorous!

Today I wanted to give you some ideas in case you wanted to order anything for the special lady in your life, as I know with the mail and all of the overwhelming elements occurring could very possibly delay her gift. So getting a jump start is never a bad idea. A few things to also keep in mind, especially in our current situation and as a proud supporter of small businesses,  to remember to shop small too! Gift cards can always be used at a later date once its safe to be out and about again. A gift card to her favorite local shop, nail spa, or to get a massage, or facial is always thoughtful and will be much needed after being under a stay at home order for so long. Shoot, may want to throw a syringe of Botox in there too, Conrad (HINT, HINT). Seriously though, pandemic or not, I love a gift card and don’t know anyone who doesn’t appreciate an opportunity for a little pamper session or me time! Keep that in mind when you’re thinking of the perfect gift to show your love and appreciation.

Another unique gift idea is a subscription! I love these because it always feels like Christmas when they arrive at the door. FabFITFun boxes are always impressive in the amount of products and trending items you receive. Style her for a quarter or for a full year with a Stitch Fix or Trunk Club subscription. Such an easy and amazing service that will allow her to select and modify her specific preferences and send back what she doesn’t absolutely love. How cool is that?! Scentbird is another neat one. She can browse up to 500 scents and select what she wants to try for less than $15 per month. The frequency of receiving these subscriptions can be customized and tailored to fit her individual needs as well.  Choose autoship, skip, or completely cancel if she so desires. I love that about these services. They truly cater to what your specific needs are all while on your phone or computer. So easy, fun, and such a unique experience she’ll love.

Below is a list of things I’ve found that either I have loved and was gifted, or will be gifting this year with a little randomness in between! 🙂

I’m a sentimental gal so gifts with meaning are so special to me. A few of my favorites from past Mother’s Day celebrations have been a locket with Corbin’s picture and name on it, personalized rings, a necklace with both the kids initials, my “mama’ necklace, photo books, and sweet handwritten notes and scribbles from the kids. These are precious and things I will keep and cherish and that I gravitate towards often and love to wear and re-read.

At the end of the day, the most important of all is that she knows you love her. A simple hug, kiss, and I love you does the trick and is the most meaningful of all! It’s about sharing and making memories, and showing those you care about how important they are to you each day. Now that I’m a mom, I get it. All of the things my mom used to tell me, the sweet memories she still shares of my brother and I and watching us grow. It truly has become and is the joy if my life and to be able to witness and love my two little humans is beyond the most precious of gifts. There isn’t a love that compares to being a mother and to me is a constant reminder of God’s great love for us. A significant bond that goes beyond all understanding. Its the most beautiful gift.

Motherhood in this season of so much uncertainty has shown me that slowing down to play basketball or to chalk the driveway, go on family bike rides, bake lots of cookies, and read lots of books really is the silver lining. This season has brought me back to whats really and truly important, what matters and who my little people are becoming. It’s allowed me to take a breath and to enjoy the small things. Is everyday unicorns and rainbows? No. Are there hard days where I feel like Conrad can’t walk through the door fast enough? Absolutely! In the midst of those, there are also LOTS and LOTS of really amazing days and days I hope they look back on and remember the fun, the silly and the love. So much love! When I tuck Corbin and Camilla into bed, I hope they know how much I treasure our days and that this overwhelming thankfulness that engulfs me never goes away, even when they are grown and don’t need me like they do right now. In this season, I am grateful and humbled that I get to be their mom. Thankful for our health, for lots of laughter, and days to play outside. This Mother’s Day may look a little different but regardless its perfect because I have them.

I pray this Mother’s Day blesses you and emphasizes all of the good and beauty in your life. Whether it’s your first Mother’s Day as a new mom, a first without your mom, another year of celebrating with your kids, spending the day with someone who is like your mom, or if you’re yearning to be a mom, I pray it is a day filled with hope. A day that inspires you, is a reflection of your good work,  and a reminder of all of the love surrounding you. Praying it will be a day to recognize and honor the amazing and wonderful women we know, we are, and we have yet to become.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Spring Home Decor

It’s springtime!

Anyone else all about organization and sprucing up your homes? Especially now, when it seems like we have all the time in the world. I’ve been tackling closets, and moving things around in the house. Doing a little redecorating in between the 874 meals I’ve been cooking. Whew! This whole being domesticated thing is no joke! Ha! On another note, I didn’t realize what a pack rat I was until I decided to purge so many things and it feels so stinking good to get it all out and simplify a little. I had several requests this past week to share some home decor with you all. Lots of things I’ve found are on sale, some on the lower end, and some on the higher.

I decided the best way to present what I found was to put together a few mood boards and then link the items to shop underneath! I hope this is helpful for you all and that they will give you some insight and inspiration into transforming your own spaces and updating them for spring. A few of my favorite places to shop for unique pieces that are also affordable options are Home Goods, At Home, Wayfair, Target and TJ Maxx. Just a little tip I use when shopping for a space is I like to pick out a focal point in the room and then build around it. Whether it’s a specific piece of furniture, a piece of art or even a throw pillow, all that I do beyond that point compliments that piece to tie everything together. Another tip is, you don’t have to redo EVERYTHING! I like to move things around in my house, this is something my mom also does and then I’ll buy a piece here or there to make things look a little different without converting the entire room. Throw pillows are also a wonderful way to change a space without spending a lot of money. H&M and Amazon have amazing decorative pillows and can even be purchased as fabric only without the insert. You can buy inserts on Amazon or I’ve bought some off IKEA previously, and this also saves money, and then you can just buy covers to change out periodically.  This eliminates having to buy an entire pillow, insert and all every time. Also, it helps with storage too. You aren’t having to find a place to store all the pillows/inserts. Lastly, make it your own and have fun with it! Add details that are specific to your taste and personalize your space with photos and things that speak to you and yours. I love adding pieces that remind me of a special trip or milestone moments, such as photos of my kids and our family. At the end of the day, thats what home is all about! Enjoy friends and let me know how your spring decor turns out!

Below are boards and links! Happy decorating!! 😉

Easter Basket Ideas

Hello!

It’s been a minute since I sat down to write a blog post and honestly now with all that’s been going on with the Coronavirus I feel it’s absolutely necessary to continue the most important traditions. Easter is such a significant holiday and one I always look at as being a fresh start or new beginning. Jesus died on the cross to take away my sin, rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of God awaiting the time when we will all be re-united with him. I don’t know about you but that certainly resonnates hope within me no matter our current circumstances and should be celebrated. This year may look different from previous years, as we will all be at home, but the traditions remain the same. As a family we will get up, dress up, watch church in the basement as we have been and will hunt for eggs in the back yard after lunch. It will be different this year not having our loved ones around but I’m so thankful for technology and FaceTime which gives us the ability to be together, even if we physically can’t be. One reminder I’ve been keeping is Easter is coming and God’s goodness remains unchanged. I pray this year would bless you and yours and that hope would be restored within your heart. I’m praying for peace that would surpass all understanding and that we would soon be able to have some normalcy I know we’re all craving. Hang in there friends! We’re all in this together!!

For now, I figured I’d share some Easter basket ideas for your kiddos in case you’re like me and a little behind this year.

I’ll be honest and say I’m sad I wasn’t able to rummage through the Target dollar section for all the fun gadgets this year but nevertheless,  was able to find some fun things here and there for the kids I know they’ll still love. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime!! All the links below are shop able and should get here on time, fingers crossed! Drop a question in the comments below if you have any and I hope you find this to be easy to navigate and helpful!

Be blessed my friends and Happy Easter!
