Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Hello friends!

Mother’s Day is fast approaching so I thought it would be a great opportunity to offer a little inspiration when it comes to gift-giving for the most important women in your lives. Mother’s do so much and are the cornerstone of most families. They are the nurturer, housekeeper, teacher, personal chef, caregiver, nurse and most importantly the heart of all things good. When Luke Bryan sings, “most mama’s outta to qualify for sainthood” he’s not kidding! I am so blessed to have a mother like mine and can only hope and pray to be half the woman, wife, mother to Corbin and friend she is to all who meet her. She has a heart of gold, is incredibly talented, loves Jesus and her kind spirit is second to none. These are just a few unique and beautiful characteristics, that I admire most about her and I know others do as well. Her influence has impacted me positively in so many ways, and I¬†hope she feels our love for her on Mother’s Day and each day in between. We truly are the luckiest that she is ours and blessed by her in so many ways!

Now, lets talk gifts! Whether you’re shopping for your mother, grandmother, sister or friend, there is something for everyone!

First, I’m the sentimental guru in our family so I love photos, photo books and anything relating to memories.¬†Last year my husband surprised me with a Mommy & Me photoshoot taken by my sweet friend Tara (her website is at the end of this post) and it was so sweet and something I will always cherish. He did SO good! Speaking of cherish,¬†Shutterfly¬†is such a great resource for those who love sentimental gifts! Their hardcover, photo books, and even photo blankets are perfect for that someone who loves tangible, well thought out gifts that can be glanced at and admired for years to come. I personally love this concept because it is simple, and the website makes creating so easy, yet it is something she can hold on to and keep forever and look back at the memories made with those she loves most. Create a photo book of your most recent vacation together as a family, or a significant event that your mother or wife hold dear to their heart. I made an album of Corbin and my pictures from last year so I can remember that sweet Mother’s Day and those precious moments. It really was one of my favorite gifts Conrad’s ever given me.

Now, some may say a gift card is impersonal but for me, a gift card to my favorite retailer or spa is AHHMAZING!!! Whether locally or afar, indulging in a little retail therapy or a girls day for a massage is always a good idea and one most mama’s need! Freshening up your wardrobe and having the ability to do solo shopping, get a pedicure or eyelashes done without the iPad entertaining your child is a little slice of heaven in my book and a “nailed it” moment if you’re the gift giver. Husbands, your wives will love you for this! Here are a few of my favorites!

Subscribing to personal style brands is also fun, effortless, and exciting. Trunk Club, Stitch Fix and Rocksbox are all great options for the mom on the go that doesn’t have time to shop but enjoys the process and receiving something new every now and then. If you know her size, likes and style this may be an idea that your mother or wife would love. Plus, its a fun surprise monthly and can be inexpensive, as it’s a small monthly styling fee and depending on what is kept in the box, those items will be charged on the card on file. Speaking of subscriptions, a monthly wine subscription isn’t a bad idea either.

Here are the websites as mentioned above if interested in personal styling or a different way to shop. Plus, you can get your first Rocksbox subscription free with the code Bluebonnetsandbowtiesxoxo at checkout!

Another one of my favorite gifts to give the women in our family and even to receive that I feel are meaningful and life-breathing are daily devotionals. When I rise, give me Jesus! Amen! I love reading mine in the mornings to start my day and feel like they just help me begin refreshed and ready to conquer whatever lies before me. Here are a few that I have read and love, as well as a few I would love to receive!

Jewelry. I don’t know a woman that doesn’t like receiving jewelry, or I guess I should say, have yet to meet one. Personalized jewelry is special, unique and a reminder of who she is and what she means to those around her. Kelli with Sweetheart Designs does an amazing job in creating beautiful personalized jewelry she will LOVE. Name rings and initial necklaces are just a few specialties. She has a vast selection and many options to choose from and will also customize to fit your needs. You can view her entire collection here.

Sweetheart Designs

Who likes a clean house? Who doesn’t? Or a clean car? Give her the gift of a house keeper or have her car detailed. This is a gift she will deeply appreciate. Trust me. I personally have someone come once a month, sometimes twice to clean our home and it’s a service that distresses me and in my opinion is worth EVERY penny. Just that deep clean and having someone come in (obviously someone trustworthy) and clean what you may not see, really does make a difference. Happy wife, happy life! It really is true! I feel I am a much more pleasant person with a clean and tidy house! ūüėČ

I also wanted to list a few items that are time savers, helpful, something anyone would appreciate and love and that are for everyday use and wear!

Lastly, I wanted to mention that you don’t have to spend tons of money, or do anything extravagant just to let her know you care. Make your mom breakfast in bed, take her to lunch and a movie or just spend the day with her. Show your love with a simple card and a pretty bouquet of flowers. Just take time to show her she is loved, needed, appreciated and valued. Tell her you love her, for time is indeed precious and memories are most important over all the gifts in the world!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mother’s and moms-to-be out there, especially to mine!! I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Must Have Items for Spring

Hello, loves! I hope your Wednesday is off to the best start!

It was touch and go for a while but it seems spring may just be here to stay, or we hope! Over the weekend, and while it was a high of 50 degrees, I took a poll on what you guys wanted to see, and one of the most requested was the top items for spring. So, here they are!

Let’s begin with prints! From floral to gingham, stripes to tropical, sequins and of course polka dots, prints are everywhere right now! I am loving any and all things print and am having so much fun mixing and matching lately. Gingham is always so classic and I am so happy its made such a statement this season and you can never go wrong with polka dots. Can I also mention, anytime this girly girl can wear sequins or embroidery, you know I’m going to rock it! So, whether you’re the ultimate #girlboss, love to snazzy it up a bit or have your toes in the sand on a beach, this seasons prints will have you covered in a whole lot of cuteness! You can even shop these items by hovering over them and clicking on the image.

Secondly, hats are all the rage right now, and you NEED one! Not only for fashion purposes but to cover your pretty faces and keep you from getting premature wrinkles. Straw hats are one of my favorite accessories going from spring and into summer. They are chic and hide those bad hair days, or in my case, dirty hair days! I love a hat, y’all! Perfect for the pool or even for those times you just want to throw on a tank and shorts or a cute sundress and make that hair last one more day without a shampooing! Check these cute options out!

Speaking of accessories, another favorite that takes me back to the glory days, is ribbons, hair scarfs, and bandanas. I never thought I’d see cheer days return in my 30’s but the more sophisticated version is back and I’m not one bit mad about it! I’ve been using them often to dress up my top knots, accessorize my half up do or just to keep my hair out of my face completely. You could say they are multipurpose, as they can be worn around your neck or in your hair. Love this newish, throwback trend that you will be seeing often, at least on me, this summer!

Overalls=LIFE! My #momiform just got an upgrade and if you haven’t already, it’s time to dig them out of the back of your closet, ladies! So much goodness and they are so cute on EVERY body type! Also, as a mom, they are a dream. Here¬†are the ones I chose. They have a great fit and are so comfortable, plus are on SALE! HOLLA! Shortalls are another great option for those hot summer months and you better believe I have a pair hanging in my closet that I plan on wearing on repeat every chance I get. All my soccer mom friends, get ready! You’ll be seeing them most Saturdays! ūüėČ Please note, in regard to fit, I would suggest staying with your regular size, unless you want a looser fit. American Eagle, Madewell and Abercrombie run true to size, but I would suggest sizing up in the H&M brand. As this brand tends to run on the smaller side. For size reference, I chose a 2 short in AE. I am 5’4 and the short option always fits me best. I can easily wear a 4 or even depending on the cut, a 6 in H&M. It has more of a European fit, so just be aware of this if ordering online.

Bamboo and straw bags! This is a big one y’all that will be carried right into summer! HA! From Cult Gaia to Mar Y Sol and all the dupes in between (linked below) your accessory game will be on point all season long. These unique bags are simply an outfit game changer. Add the classic arc bag to your collection and pair it with all of your cute spring rompers or even cut-off denim and a graphic tee. Show stoppers that will make a statement and I guarantee you’ll be asked where to find them wherever you go! My arc bag is one I get asked about often and complimented when carried. Check these great (real and dupe) options out below!

High waisted EVERYTHING! Mom jeans and culottes have made a come back and I can see why! Hold the phone, denim skirts too, y’all! Can we say spring of 2005? I literally gave all my denim skirts away thinking it would never happen. WRONG! I’ve recently purchased a couple new styles to update the wardrobe and although they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, they seem to be sticking around until further notice. Here are a few favs and affordable options. I would always suggest sizing up in denim skirts. I say this because you don’t want your bottom to be “cupped” for a lack of a better word (I’m a little delirious) and you want it to fall on your hips. Message me if you need sizing references in any of the brands below!

¬†In rounding out the look, two must have items are dainty necklaces and fun tassel earrings. These are kind of opposite ends of the spectrum but just think, dainty necklace by day, fun tassels by night. I always love Baublebar and Sugar Fix for my dainty necklaces. They are affordable and are just perfect for everyday wear. I’ve linked a few of my most current favorites for you!

Let’s talk tassels. They are so fun, are a little EXTRA and are great to add a fun pop of color to a print or solid. I’ve been eyeing these below.

Last but certainly not least, BODYSUITS! If you haven’t snagged one yet, its a must to wear under overalls and high waisted shorts. They also are perfect for layering under kimonos and light-weight cardigans, that is, if Mother Nature decides to freak out on us again. Fingers crossed it stays nice and warm! Here are a few I own and a couple I’m saving for a day that I have an “add to cart” moment.

I hope this post leaves you feeling beautiful and confident in all of your spring finds and buys and that no matter what you choose in this season, whether it be, denim, florals, dainty, ruffles or understated, that you will embrace the beauty within! Rock that outfit and keep being YOU, girlfriend!

Romper Season

Romper Season

Hey girl hey!!

I am officially on vacay mode this week as we prepare for our little getaway to DFW and I’m so freaking excited!!! I’m basically tired of adulting and just so ready for a weekend with the family, and to meet up with a few of my favorite girlies!! Catching up and cocktails are certainly in my near future!

I fell in love with this fun spring romper that I plan on taking to wear while we’re out shopping or even as a cover up to the pool.¬†What I love most about rompers is they are so multipurpose and versatile. They generally double for me as a quick, cute option for lunch or while running errands and can easily be used as a cover up for an afternoon trip to the pool with my boys. I live in them in the summer months and love how they can go from day to night, casual to dressy and are so comfortable and easy to style. This specific romper from J. Roberts caught my eye because I felt like the colors are just perfect for transitioning, it’s super light weight and I love the tie front detail. I decided to style it with my favorite Marc Fisher wedges and Loft blush fan earrings (similar styles below). Rompers, like overalls and bodysuits make this mama’s life easier. Having less to pick out and put together makes the morning go smoother, and shoot, I might just possibly be on time. Ha, okay, I may have taken it a little too far, but you know what I mean. Don’t get me wrong, I also LOVE styling outfits but most days, enjoy effortless style that I can throw on and go! Add a fun wedge, heel or even converse and pair with a fun bamboo bag and you’re all set!

Shop some of my favorite romper finds below. Most are casual and cute for everyday wear, but I chose to add a few that will take you into dinner, or even a rehearsal, shower or casual wedding. Check them out by hovering over the pictures to be redirected to the website.

Wishing you all a fabulous start to your week and happy shopping!

Springtime Finds

Happy weekend!!

I can’t believe it’s SPRING BREAK! Feels like it snuck up on us pretty quickly. I thought I would round up a few favorites since we’re finally going into warmer weather and it’s beginning to feel a lot like springtime. Also, can I just say, bring on the beach! Like, my body says no, but my mind says YES, PLEASE! Anyone else? I literally go from being so excited about fall and all of the chunky knits that come with it, to can’t wait for some sunshine and tan lines! I mean, sunny and 75, beachy waves, pineapple drinks! I go from 0-100 in about 3 minutes between wanting more of that crisp air and missing the hot summer sun! I think we can just skip the West Texas spring wind and tune up the boat because this mama is ready! I think you get my point but with all of the cute spring fashion hitting the ground running, it makes it all the more exciting!

Here are a few of my favorites to get you into that sunshine and spring/summer time spirit!

You can click on each individual photo to be redirected to the retailers below. Happy shopping and cheers to the weekend, babes!

August Bleu

August Bleu

Happy Wednesday! Y’all, I am SO super excited about today’s post and to share August Bleu with all of you!! One thing that that takes me over the moon is, this is a company I have DREAMED of collaborating with (seriously, is this real life?) and secondly, they make the absolute best and cutest t-shirts I’ve ever bought and worn for women, children, and even occasionally men! They are literally DA BOMB! (Is that even still cool to say!?) I’ll let you be the judge on that one, but these tees are just that good!

As a small town girl, it’s so important to me specifically to share amazing brands and pieces I love with you all, and is especially good to share businesses that are local to the Lubbock area. If you’ve been following along or know me personally, you know I am an advocate for shopping and supporting local, always and forever! I’ve literally been an August Bleu customer for years and one of the many aspects I LOVE is that this darling mother/daughter duo always keep their designs new, creative, and fresh! Did I mention they also print in house AND sell across the USA! Amazing!! They are unlike any other I’ve come across, and I as a busy mama who lives in tees regularly, it’s important to stand out from the crowd, even in the most basic of pieces. Their basic tees are by the way, made of the best quality and they even come in stripes! Does that not sell itself?!

Honestly though, the true difference for me is, when wearing an August Bleu design, I always feel a little more put together and am always complimented and asked where I can find them every time, no matter where I am. I usually pair mine with long dusters or oversized cardigans, accessorizing with a ball cap or wide brimmed hat and rocking jeans and even cowboy boots in the summer with cut offs. I mean we are in Texas after all, am I right? Even if you aren’t a Texas native, there is a cute and fun way to style each tee to make it your own. From mom-life to a casual night out, you can find a style that will fit your needs. If that isn’t enough, the messages behind each tee are influential and can be described as sweet and simple and others engaging and encapsulating God’s word in a beautiful print with the ability to start a meaningful and much deeper conversation. Unique and easy to distinguish from other brands, simply because they are in a category of their own! The Farmhouse Animals Collection ranges from cutesy cows and my personal favorite, pigs, to the Boho Series, which is geared toward cute and colorful cactus prints. They also recently implemented the T-Shirt Dress Collection. These dresses are absolutely perfect for taking your wardrobe from winter to spring, and work to play. Be sure to check out their Easter line, as it’s shown above. This design comes in different colors and children’s sizes as well. (Insert all the heart eyes.) Beyond tees and dresses, you can find a variety of the sweetest tea towels to coordinate with your home decor, and accessorize with an August Bleu ball cap to conceal those bad hair days! Take a look at their website here¬†to see their newly added collections as well as original designs and I guarantee, you’ll become as big a fan as I am!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to partner with August Bleu and to have met Tammy and Brianna. I remember meeting them when I was on the Holiday Happening Committee for Junior League. If you aren’t a local, Holiday Happening is one of the largest fundraisers for the Lubbock Community that takes place around the holidays and we were so honored to have August Bleu as one of our merchants. They are such kind souls and amazing creatives and I am just as honored today as I was then. I also vividly remember going a little crazy in their adorable booth. My husband knows what he married, but he was even like, “Chelsi, are those ALL Christmas gifts?” It was definitely a smile and nod moment. They are just too cute, y’all and frankly, it’s hard to buy just one! Therefore, the August Bleu addiction continues!

Now, for the fun part! It’s time to go shopping, friends!! For a limited time, August Bleu is also generously giving my readers and followers a discount code to use on their website! Use the code Bluebonnet20 for a 20% discount on your ENTIRE order!

I hope you enjoyed reading and have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Thank you, August Bleu for sponsoring this post!

Shoes on Shoes on Shoes

Hello gorgeous!

There are SO many amazing sales happening right now, as I know you’re already aware! Shoes are something I absolutely LOVE! Something else I know you’re becoming increasingly aware of. Especially if you’ve been following me for some time. Shoes tend to make or break an outfit and ALWAYS fit! Well, for the most part! They aren’t like everything else that sometimes tend to vary, if you know what I mean. My jeans are just a little tighter this month but my shoes fit GREAT! Haha!

I wanted to share some amazing shoe finds that I am loving and may already have a pair or two of in my closet! They are all marked down and will transition into different seasons for years to come. I tend to splurge on shoes and handbags because they are items I wear for longer periods of time. More so, than anything else I purchase. Below is a round up of my current faves all from the Nordstrom sale.

Also, please note, the sale ends January 2, 2018 so stop and shop before they go back up to their original price on the 3rd. Your feet will thank you!

NYE Dress Guide

Happy Thursday!

It’s hard to believe the Holiday Season is wrapping up and coming to a close with New Years Eve just days away. Whether you’re in New York City celebrating in Times Square (I wish) or just attending a local gathering in your home town, there are plenty of options when it comes to what to wear.

From inexpensive options, to jumpsuits and dresses to splurge on, you can’t go wrong with a little glitz and glamour. I’ve decided to round up a few favorites that I think are perfect options, no matter your plans. For me, I’ll more than likely be lounging with my family and a glass of prosecco and quite honestly may not make it to midnight but if we were doing it big, one of these fabulous options would be what I’d choose.

Turn heads with sequins or keep it simple and understated with a velvet body con. I hope that regardless of your plans, whether your up all night or like me, an 80 year old in a 30 somethings body, that you’ll enjoy the last day of 2017 and remember to be safe and ring in the new year in style.

Cheers and Happy New Year!!

XO- Chelsi
